Whale Atlas has no accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies and sells no data. Email is only used if you ask for alerts or the weekly report, and one click deletes it.

Your watchlist lives only in your own browser. Our servers keep ordinary technical logs, like IP address and page requested, for a short time to run and protect the site.

1. The short version

  • No accounts or sign-up. You never give us your name or email to use the site. Email is only needed if you choose to get alerts or the weekly report.
  • No advertising, no tracking cookies, no analytics profiles. We count visits with cookieless, anonymous totals only.
  • We do not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone for advertising or marketing.
  • Your watchlist, followed people, recent companies and saved presets stay in your own browser. Only companies you turn alerts on for are sent to us.

2. Information our servers receive

Like almost every website, our servers automatically receive technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser and device type, and the referring page. We use this only to deliver the site, keep it secure, prevent abuse and fix errors. These server logs are size-limited, kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, and automatically overwritten on a rolling basis. We do not use them to build profiles of visitors.

Pages are briefly cached so the site stays fast; cached pages are the same for everyone and contain no personal information.

3. Anonymous usage statistics (no cookies)

To see which pages and tabs are useful, the site counts visits without cookies and without storing anything on your device. We keep only hourly totals: the type of page (for example “a stock page”, not which stock), the label of a tab or button clicked, the outside website that linked you here (its domain only), whether the device is a phone, tablet or computer, page-speed timings, and your country and, in the United States, your state, as provided by Cloudflare.

We estimate how many different people visit each day with a code computed from your network address and browser together with a random secret that exists only in memory and changes every day. The code is never stored and cannot be linked from one day to the next. We never store IP addresses, cookies, user IDs, full web addresses or what you search for. Totals are deleted after 13 months.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, you are not counted at all.

4. Information stored only in your browser

Features such as your watchlist, followed people, recently viewed companies, saved presets and display preferences use your browser’s local storage. This information stays on your device; it is not transmitted to our servers. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data. The optional “back up my research” feature creates a file on your own device.

5. Email alerts, the weekly report and browser notifications

These are optional. If you sign up we keep only what is needed to send them:

  • Email: your email address, the companies you asked alerts for, whether you want the Monday report, and when you confirmed. We send a confirmation email first and send nothing else until you click it; unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 7 days.
  • Browser notifications: the push address your browser gives us (it contains no name or email) and the companies you follow.

Emails are delivered through Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), which processes your address only to deliver our emails. Browser notifications travel through your browser maker’s push service (for example Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft). We do not use tracking pixels or sell, rent or share your email with anyone.

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes your email address and alert choices right away. Turning off browser notifications for all companies deletes that browser’s push address.

6. Cookies

The public site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. A single technical cookie is used only for the site operator’s private status page. Because we use no non-essential cookies, there is no cookie banner.

7. Third-party content

Some features load content from other providers, which then receive your IP address and browser information directly under their own privacy policies:

  • TradingView provides the share quotes and charts. See TradingView’s privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare delivers and protects the site, and its Web Analytics counts page views without cookies, fingerprinting or tracking you across sites. We see only totals (for example visits per page and country), never who you are.
  • Links to government websites (SEC EDGAR, the House Clerk, the Senate eFD system and others) take you to those sites, which have their own policies.

Company descriptions from Wikipedia are fetched by our server, not your browser, so Wikipedia does not receive your information when you view them.

8. People named in public filings

Whale Atlas displays names, roles and transactions of company insiders and members of Congress exactly as they appear in public government filings that the law requires them to make. We link every record to its official source and correct errors when told about them (see corrections).

9. Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Your choices and rights

Because we do not keep accounts or visitor profiles, there is usually no personal information of yours for us to access or delete beyond short-lived server logs and, if you signed up for alerts, your email address (which you can delete yourself with the unsubscribe link). You may contact us to ask about, correct or delete any information that relates to you, and we will respond as required by the privacy laws that apply to you. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined in California law.

11. Security and location

We use reasonable technical measures to protect the site and its logs. No system is perfectly secure. The site is operated from and its servers are located in the United States.

12. Changes and contact

If we ever add accounts, analytics or other features that handle personal information, we will update this policy before doing so. The date at the top shows the latest version.

For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
